  • Still router model is still on sale today. I’m currently using a 66 and been very happy with it but the on/off switch is very weak. Mine broke after many years of router use but I don’t think I used the switch more than 5 times in that period! Thankfully there is a work around found on YouTube to fix the problem.

  • Thank you for this informative review. I just purchased this router over the weekend and like it thus far. However, the Tx power adjustment setting is no longer available on the most current firmware upgrade…something to do with some FCC rule that has come into play 🙁 I bought this router specifically because it DOES offer the web history feature…and that feature has worked very well for me during the 2 days that I have owned the router…hope I don't jinx myself by saying that 🙂 I could never get my nearly 5 year old Canon printer to work via this router…even after much research and even calling the support telephone number. We tried 3 different methods and it simply would never be recognized. The printer DID still work just not on this router. Since it was 5 years old–which may have been the problem because it did not have some newer feature or other–I just went and bought a new Epson printer that worked flawlessly as soon as I went through the setup process.

  • Yeah its the one test that you cant find any information online about. the router can read upto 8 partition on a 4tb hdd. but nothing on using a hub to allow it access to more than 1 drive

  • Would this be good for a rural area where I normally get 2-3 bars of Verizon signal. I also don't have dsl and use Verizon as my main source of internet.

  • Hi! Love the review. Just wondering: what are your thoughts on AC68U vs AC1200G+ (theoretical speed aside). What will CPU differences result in? How is the comparison for range? Thanks!

What I need this to do is be easy to configure, as my DLink is making it hard for me to trouble shoot ChromeCast! :-/

  • Ok so you explained the difference with the R and U versions (which there isn't) What about the Asus RT-AC68W, RT-AC68A, and RT-AC68P? There's literally a zillion versions of these AC1900 routers, even some not from Asus. So confuzling!

  • Thanks, this is a great review and really helped a lot as I'm looking to upgrade my older Wi-Fi router to something decent but not needless overkill that will also fit on top of a relatively narrow shelf. This one hits all the marks – gigabit LAN, USB 3.0 storage option, 802.11ac 2.4GHz and 5GHz, and decent firmware settings and options.

  • @C.M.O. & Logistics +C.M.O. & Logistics What I was talking about is if you set up and use a good number of guest
networks they will be broadcasting in the same space as your primary
network. Meaning while having 1 network in your area means you have the
best connection and speeds, the more that are added the lower your
speeds and connection stability can be. This is very noticeable if you
live in an apartment complex and already have all your neighbors
broadcasting their own WiFi as well.

what so you mean" maybe we shouldn't do that to show how much broadcast…. " ?

  • I recently had gigabit internet installed, this device will only get up to 500mbps on the WAN port. Had to use the Netgear r6300 to get full internet speed on the WAN port. The wifi connectivity is also very good, so using it as a wifi access point only. Disappointing because the interface is great. If you have less than 500 mbps internet connection, it would be fine.
