I just played this game with a group of VERY eager liers and it was, as you said, utterly impossible to deduce anything from what anybody was saying: terrorists (Moriarty) would benefit to say they are, or not, to say they have the immediate explosion, or not, to have defused wires, or not, and the same for counter (Sherlock).
I would say this game should only be played with nine year olds who would have difficulties to lie and detect liers, just to practice and give them right away the feeling that this life is nothing but suffering and betrayal followed by the sweat release of death.
Just stop the stupid voices and get on with it.
I'm not surprised the wire cutters keep falling apart, you were tossing the components around like some sort of spastic. 😲
Actually, the terribly named "Don't Mess with Cthulhu" is based on Time Bomb, the original game was Japanese.
Hmm, maybe team Moriatis goal should be to hide at least one bomb for X amount of turns, instead of having the "Boom" card in there.
Might help getting deduction going, while also preventing the turn one kill.
