Network engineer here in 2600.sq ft home. This is by far the absolute worst router I have ever come across. Their ac86u had great coverage and constant drops. Do yourself a favor and never buy asus networking. They need to stick to motherboards.

Is that really right? 5000 square feet coverage? I know that number sounds high, but we're talking a circle here, so that's roughly only a 39ft range (radius) from the router. Is this realistic? I ask because it is marketed as "double" coverage over the standard "2500 square feet", but I hadn't really thought about that until now. It SOUNDS like twice as much, but… it's really not.
Those routers – yes, the $50 ones he mentions, have about a 28ft range. Why then, are we only seeing an increase of around 1/3 more actual range, if this is accurate? Can anyone confirm this, or provide more info? One would think that with beamforming, and the increased channel separation etc., it would show more increase than that?
And, if one were to go with this router, and then a mesh unit as well to expand the range, are we talking the same standard 10-20% overlap that older WDS systems used, or closer than that?

How does this router perform with backwards compatibility bandwidths? My tp link ax11000 kept loosing wifi every day or two to every device.

Would you buy this to replace Orbi RBK50? I have Fios 300/300 and it struggles around 200 mbps down , but upload is fine. That is because I have many wifi networks around and brick walls etc…

Wow, this is the most amazing use of baby bird regurgitation that I have ever witnessed from someone that can read the outside of a box, the instruction .pdf, and take a few new photos and capture a few streams. All that I really needed to see for me was that Windows logo in the bottom left corner to tell me everything that I needed to see about the power level of this user and knowledge of this review maker. Go back to start and show me some WRT on your next try with this amazing router that you know nothing about it's real power and what it can really do.

We have two of these AX11000 routers in a mesh and it works like a charm. The worst room gets over 600M down and the smart home, music and all of our real-time video devices live happily together. I am sure there were cheaper options but having this rock solid network was a great investment especially during the quarantine.

My Main Computer { i7 } is connected via RJ45 direct to my router along with my printer,Sound System's Receiver, Cable Box, TV, DVD Player.
    Sonos Play:1
My Son his computer is connected via wifi and so is his mobile phone
    Same for my Daughter.
We are not gamers per say, we'll play the odd game.
I feel this router might be well used by large venues, clinic's, shopping malls, internet cafe's etc…
But not for a joe like me.
The 5ghz is great for speed
The 2.4gHz is great for distance
Maybe it be nice if they came out with a 6gHz that gives SPEED and DISTANCE but as it stands now, it's one or the other.

    VPN:
Also, when using the VPN OMG,, talk about loss of speed, you can have a 1.5gHz internet connection and have speeds like 1.2gHz 980Mbps – 900Mbps, 890 Mbps in that area, but when connected to a VPN Service, Hide my Ass, Vancy, ExpressVPN, IPVanish, NordVPN and others you can expect speeds to be as LOW as 2Mpbs and as high as 10Mbps which is a far cry from the 980Mbps and that is with a WIRED CONNECTION Holly Bat Sheet – Batman.

I had to watch this a few times…I don't hear when you ever mention what type of WiFi you are using to test. 802.11what to what? I get you're never going to get 2.5Gb but 300-400Mb is pretty crappy if these were all ax devices. Towards the end of the video you mention connection to a 1Gbps NAS. That's a pointless test. Might as well show us 10Gbps transfer numbers to a 1Gbps NAS.

Got this for -130$ off………for that price. At least when i saw it…….i returned the newly purchased AX-6100 mesh pack that needed double restarts constantly…….which also costed more……for this ax11000……that was 269$ on sale……i also had a gift card. I get my 300 megabit over wifi to my laptop now something the 6100 mesh DU-92. Struggled to do. It will Power 2-3 4k smart TVS as well as 4 low traffic pc users, as well as myself which will be gaming primarily. The only wifi 6 devices currently are 2 802.11ax capable Iphones. My laptop isnt 802.11ax but a Intel 9560 Jefferson Peak…i may sell and buy up to a wifi6 laptop once i see how the 2nd gen ryzen flagship laptop cpus perform as well as getting a gigabit conneciton. Great video, and editing. Ez sub. Even for my 802.11ac devices i find this as a more "proper" solution than an 802.11ac "mesh system" which are also very expensive and equate to "more" proprietary hardware than can/will eventually fail or get damaged…..thus making it harder to justify a mesh system, it would be nice to mount them properly. Im just speaking in regards to common consumers with cats/dogs and pets that will eventually hit the cord or mesh devices etc kids and so on. This 1 AX11000 especially when paired with an ISP that provides viable Gigabit connection for a reasonable price. This is your best option IMO for WIFI6 or 802.11ac devices currently, especially if you can get it for 300$ or less on sale. IDK about the current state of affairs considering the demand of ISP and gaming/streaming that has increased it will probably stay at the 400$ price point unfortunately.

Excellent video. I went through your other video at https://youtu.be/Rb_gZJqWigc which compared AX11000 with GT-AC5300. There were No Signal deadzones detected when using AX11000 when you compared it with GT-AC5300 nine months ago. So, what was tested earlier is no longer valid… i.e no more deadzones with AX11000?

Thank you the Excellent review–very clear and the configuration tip you mentioned will save me and others much frustration. You mentioned link aggregation–how would you do this on this router? I bought two these because we always have lots of dead spots in our house and I want to get both a NAS and switch that can take advantage of as much bandwidth as possible from this router and 10gb seemed to be the answer.
